Water resources, and freshwater resources in particular, are critical to Canada’s natural resource sector. The natural resource sector is by far the largest water user in the country and thus has a major influence on the sustainability of Canada’s water resources. Key issues, priorities and opportunities for enhancing water resource management include: Improved data for planning and management; Data- and evidence-informed decision-making; Improved knowledge translation; The energy-water nexus; Watershed-based management; Improved communication, collaboration and coordination; More accurate valuation of water resources.
