Racehorses : Exterminator with pony companion, Peanuts.
-
Description
-
Image of the racehorse Exterminator and the pony Peanuts. Caption states that the “Death came today to perhaps the best known race horse in North America, old Exterminator himself. Better known to his many admirers as ‘Old Bones’ because what he lacked in looks he made up in running ability, the old fellow, who was 30 years of age, is shown here with his equally well known pony companion Peanuts. Purchased in 1918 by W. S. Kilmer as work horse for Sun Briar, Exterminator proved himself when he went on to win the Kentucky Derby after Sun Briar failed to train up to expectation.”
