Jean Augustine interview: West Indian Social and Cultural Society button

This again was one of the early efforts that we had to unify the
Caribbean community. And so we were always having efforts, and this was one
that spoke to the issue of unity; let’s come together, not just Grenada,
Barbados, St. Vincent, and whatnot but if we can come together as a West
Indian social and cultural society that we could speak with a voice. We can
have an effective voice and we can do cultural and social things that could
promote the Caribbean -- the West Indies, and I like that. Again, you would
see the theme of a person and then the hand with the word “unity”, and
that was really kind of a symbol.
